Nebraska Estate Planning Attorney
Stephen P. Schmidt
Stephen P. Schmidt is a Nebraska native who grew up in Lincoln and Central City, graduating from Nebraska Christian High School in 1981. He lived in Omaha from 1982 through 1991 while pursuing undergraduate and law degrees. He received a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in History and Philosophy and a second major in Biblical Studies from Grace University in 1988. He graduated cum laude from Creighton University School of Law in 1991.
Steve received his professional license in 1991 and began as an associate in a general practice firm in Norfolk, Nebraska. Because of his desire to work more in the area of estate planning, he took a position as a trust officer in 1993 with Norwest Bank in Iowa. He spent over eleven years as a trust officer with Norwest (Wells Fargo) in Iowa working with revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts, charitable trusts, life insurance trusts, conservatorships, IRAs and investment management agencies and became manager of their western Iowa Trust Departments.
On April 1, 2004, Steve returned to Omaha and joined a firm doing very cutting edge estate planning and was a member of the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys. He was with the firm over five years and left in 2009 to join Pat Morrow, a seasoned estate planning attorney who needed someone to begin taking over his practice. Unfortunately, Pat developed cancer and passed away unexpectedly. Steve, with help from Rod, took over Pat’s practice on October 1, 2010.
